The XC9248 series is an 18 V Bootstrap Synchronous Step-down DC/DC converter with built-in dual N-channel driver transistors. The input voltage range is from 4.5 V to 18 V. The XC9248 has a 0.8 V reference and the output voltage can be set using the external resistors. The maximum output current of the XC9248 is 2.2 A, as compared to 2.0 A  listed for many competitor parts. Thus the XC9248 provides an engineer with additional design margin.  The switching frequency is 500 kHz, and the synchronous PWM control method supports high efficiency. The operation temperature range is -40 to +105 degree C. The XC9248 has over current protection, output short circuit protection, Lx pin short circuit protection, over-voltage protection and thermal shutdown. The XC9248 uses an SOP-8FD package which supports high power dissipation. Additionally, it is easy to design an effective thermal management circuit using the XC9248.
