The user programmable settings allow the IC to manage microwatts to milliwatts of power generated from sources such as solar, thermal, electromagnetic and vibration energy. This flexibility also allows the device to be used with different battery chemistries and super capacitors. Low quiescent current (typically 330 nA) and high conversion efficiency maximize the energy extracted from the chosen source. Dynamic Maximum Power Point tracking (MPPT) optimizes the energy extracted from DC energy sources such as solar panels and thermo electric generators (TEG) under varying light and thermal conditions respectively. The low cold-start voltage (typically 330 mV) allows the device to startup from single cell solar panels under low light, TEG with low temperature differences, and other low voltage sources. Its ability to provide operation status by way of the Battery OK indicator allows conditional enabling of external loads and protects the storage element.
