Shown here is the architecture of the industrial automation systems, with the high-level overview of three different industrial systems, HMI, PLC and IO devices. The first one, IO devices is where TI proposes an optimized speed grade for simple systems. In this class of devices, it is also possible to use TI’s optimized software and completely eliminate the need for an external RAM and rely on only the memories integrated on-chip. TI’s hardware and software development kits are available to evaluate such solution. The second one, is a PLC system with real-time software such as SYS/BIOS RTOS and high-speed variant of AM335x. Lastly, the AM335x also supports systems with 24-bit display interfaces where real-time Ethernet using PRUs is not a key requirement. As shown on this slide, the AM335x is a very versatile devices that can be deployed in broad range of industrial systems.
