The eZ430-RF2480 Demo Kit, featuring the CCZACC06 first generation ZigBee certified network processor in the Z-Accel family, allows for fast evaluation of Z-Accel in action. This kit interfaces a MSP430F2274 to the ZigBee Processor (CCZACC06) and demonstrates the SimpleAPI command interface to which has only 10 API calls to learn, drastically simplifying the development of ZigBee applications, device configuration, binding of devices, and sending and receiving data. The full ZigBee API can still be used if needed, however most applications can be done using the SimpleAPI. Z-Accel makes it SIMPLE to add ZigBee to new or existing products and allows customers to work with their favorite microcontrollers for application development. The benefits of Z-Accel include: shorter time to market, shorter development time, use of Z-Stack’s SimpleAPI, and significantly lower development costs. Additionally, Z-Accel allows the use existing code libraries, compilers, etc. so there is no need to learn or buy a new development environment. Some of the applications where the use of Z-Accel is ideal for include: 1) Adding “black box” ZigBee or wireless mesh to an existing product by adding a ZigBee driver to host communicating to a CCZACC over SPI, 2) An application that has special processing requirements or requires specific peripherals not provided by an SoC such as implementation of an FFT or performing audio compression, and 3) Any application that needs to get to market fast without having to prototype or learn and customize ZigBee.
