Ethernet over twisted-pair technology use twisted pair cables for Ethernet computer network applications. Shown here is the performance level that TE Connectivity modular jacks and cable assemblies are designed to. Currently the most popular are the 100BASE-TX  or CAT 5 running at 100 Mbit/s and 1000BASE-TX or CAT 5e running at 1000 Mbit/s or 1Gbit/s rates. These standards use the 8P8C connectors or the RJ45 connectors.
