The majority of high-speed signals in today’s aerospace, defense, and marine applications continue to be transmitted from the sending device to the receiving device with standard, legacy connectors. These connectors, such as M-38999 connectors, are low cost, multi-sourced, and good enough for some of the most common high-speed signaling protocols. However, they are not impedance-matched and are thus susceptible to signal loss from phenomenon such as cross-talk. Therefore, these connectors have limitations in conveying high-speed signals.
