In summary, based on the testing that TE conducted, standard M38999 connectors, when pinned out per MOD Std 23-09, are not capable of Gigabit Ethernet signaling speeds beyond two disconnects, due to NEXT performance. These connectors were not capable of 10 Gigabit Ethernet, even with a single disconnect in the link. The CeeLok FAS-T connector, on the other hand, is capable of meeting NEXT performance for both Gigabit and 10 Gigabit Ethernet up to and including five disconnects. Therefore, when designing high-speed networks, systems engineers must consider the signal loss resulting from the use of legacy connectors such as the M38999. If 10 Gigabit Ethernet performance is desired, or Gigabit Ethernet over multiple disconnects, TE recommends the use of a connector that was designed for high-speed signaling, such as the CeeLok FAS-T connector.
