This graph shows the relationship between switching frequencies (bottom horizontal-axis), inductance values (top horizontal-axis) and inductor sizes (vertical-axis) for 1A rated inductors. At a switching frequency of 300kHz, the required inductor size would be 6mm x 6mm x 1.2mm. However, at a higher switching frequency of 1.5MHz the inductor size decreases by 80% to a very small 3mm x 3mm x 1mm package. As future switching frequencies continue to increase, the inductance value will likewise decrease, enabling the use of even smaller inductors.
