One of the key features of LSM6DSL/M is the sensor hub. This is useful for systems which require atomic sensor data collection, for example in wearables, drones, and phones. The sensor hub offloads some of the actions normally managed by the system MCU, such as sensor time-stamping and data collection. Using the sensor hub and smart FIFO, the engineer can utilize the LSM6DSL/M to capture and store other sensors data, such as pressure sensor and magnetometer. All the data is loaded into the on-chip FIFO and can be read by the host MCU in contiguous blocks. The net result is that system power can be reduced.
