Level V and ErP Phase II Power Supplies Slide 7
In Summary, look for the symbol V and the CE marking on the power supply label to make sure the product is marked correctly for global consumption. ErP2 requirements went into effect the 27th of April 2011 in the European union. Switzerland is the first country to require supplies to meet the parameters set by this directive. Level V products should be specified for new designs to stay compliant with the efficiency standard. There is no specific requirement for Medical External supplies to meet any specific efficiency level. However, customers are starting to request level V for new designs. There are some countries requiring MEPS (minimum energy performance requirements) certifications. Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and South Korea are among them. UL is commissioned by SL Power to provide certification of energy compliance on certain models. Please consult the factory for details. CE marking will include declaration of conformity to EU (EC) No 270/2009 Phase II requirements, after April 27th. Even though a certification is not required, documentation showing compliance to level V metrics is required to be available by suppliers in case that is requested by governing bodies.
