The first of the new EZRadio® products is the Si4455 transceiver. This part provides for long battery life by offering low standby current. Since the device is transmitting and receiving either by duty cycling or triggered by some event in most applications, the standby current has a large impact in the overall current consumption. The active current is also impressive with this device at 20 mA in Tx at +10 dBm and 10 mA in Rx, resulting in reduced total average current. The Si4455 transceiver features high RF performance and can provide a long communication range with adequate output power and sensitivity. The out of band performance of the Si4455 is also able to hold these longer ranges in noisy environments and can perform to most standards without the need for any external filtering. Additionally, this part offers a small sub-GHz transceiver at only 3 mm x 3 mm, making it very attractive for any application that requires a small form factor.
