Configuration of the newest EZRadio® products is simplified using the EZConfig setup, available in the Wireless Development Suite (WDS) software package, which is free and downloadable from the Silicon Labs website. There are a few different options for configuration depending on specific needs. One such option is the EZConfig table which provides a list of preset configurations. These configurations are based upon the most common application settings and have been optimized for performance and verified through testing by Silicon Labs. All that is needed is to select which configuration is applicable to a user’s application, select a specific frequency and power level, and the part is completely configured. Another option is the setup wizard. This allows for a higher level setup of the device and helps to zero in on the specific configuration that will be needed. The result is a recommended setting from the EZConfig table or the option to set a slightly different configuration based on the user’s specific requirements. Lastly, the EZConfig setup provides an easy to use control panel for directly setting up the radio if the exact settings needed are known. The result of all three of these options is that the code the customer will need is preloaded into a demo code that can be directly modified or copied to an existing program.
