Wirewound-Slide10

Although available in many mounting configurations, wirewound resistors are generally larger than those using film technologies. It is more difficult to fully-automate the manufacturing of wirewound resistors, so in large quantities their cost is generally higher than film types. Because the resistance element is wound into a coil, a wirewound resistor can act as a low-Q inductor at high frequencies and under pulse conditions.
