There are some unique physical features that the make up a PIT block. The terminal block has quite a bit of installation flexibility since it accepts stranded or solid wires, with or without ferrules. Wire sizes 14 to 22 AWG with ferrules or 14 to 26 AWG without a ferrule can be used. The terminal block is also unique in that a 22 AWG ferruled wire can be directly inserted, which is the smallest in the market. Wires with ferrules or solid wire can be directly inserted into the terminal block while stranded wire requires the actuation button to be depressed so the wire can be placed into the connection area. This allows for maximum flexibility in the field when there may be a scenario where there are mixed wire types in the same cabinet. The PIT is also touch proof, meaning that it offers protection for life and limb. There is no direct contact with any of the live parts. The orange push button ensures that the tool does not touch the leg spring as opposed to some of the other spring connection products. In addition, this prevents deformation of the spring by having no direct contact with it. The actual activation button is pretty unique itself. The orange color stands out visually for easy location and means there is some kind of function or movement of the piece.
