Aside from the lower height lens, there are some other differences in specifications due to the shape of the lens. The focal distance between the top of the can where the pyroelectric elements sit and the bottom of the lens is shorter compared to the standard product. A shorter focal distance means that the size of the projected detection zones for the low profile lens are larger. The field of view angles are very comparable between both lenses however the low profile type is slightly wider. The main drawback for the low profile lens is that the smaller size allows for only half the number of detection zones. Having fewer detection zones means that the sensor’s accuracy will not be as high as the standard lens even though the effective distance and field of view for detection is the same.
