The block diagram on this slide outlines how the internal signal processing is done in the PIR sensor. Panasonic’s sensor uses a single ASIC that contains the grounded stabilized power, integrated amplifier, and comparator circuit, all of which is encased inside of a TO-5 metal can to prevent interference caused by electromagnetic fields. There is no other supplier that makes a complete package, therefore the competition is from discrete sensor designs that require more time, additional components to manage, and engineering resources from the customer.
