The most popular motor driver in Japan for this application is the LB1948MC. There are many designs that use a three wire interface made popular by the old market leader, the Toshiba TA7774F. For those who want to keep their 3 wire interface, the LB1909MC can be used. The most recent part released for this application is the LV8549MC. This part uses a DMOS technology that incorporates FETs for the H-bridge drivers rather than transistors. With their low RDSon, they are very efficient. As mentioned previously, this driver can be configured as either a stepper motor driver or as a dual channel H-bridge for driving two forward reverse motors.
