A refrigerator uses a motor to control a damper to adjust the temperature inside the non-freezer section. If the temperature is getting to high, the damper opens further to allow more air to enter from the freezer. Some refrigerators have several temperature controlled zones. Each of these will need a motor to adjust the opening size of the damper. Because of the position control, often a stepper motor is used. For a better solution than Competitor A (shown on the left), the SANYO LB1948MC can be used. This is the same motor driver that can be used for the ice maker, simplifying the bill of materials.
