Using the flow chart shown on this slide, the user can narrow down the driver selection for a security camera application. In a security camera motors are used in two places. They are used to control where the camera points and they are used to control the functioning of the lens. For panning and tilting, a stepper motor is usually used. For the lens driver, a stepper is commonly used for the autofocus and a forward/reverse brush motor is used for zoom. After having identified the motor type, the designer can check the voltage and current requirements with the list of parts that meet the other criteria. Further selection is done by following steps four through six.
