Shown on this slide are examples of how a motor driver can be used other than driving a motor. The first example is to control the movement of a solenoid. By providing current to a coil from the out pins of the driver, the iron core is moved. The user can change the direction of motion by changing the direction of current flow. This is how a valve can be opened and closed. Another application can be the electrolysis of water. The cathode and anode can be reversed by changing the direction of current flow.
