This is an overview of LPC5500 MCU series roadmap. LPC55S6x was introduced in early 2019. It features dual-core Cortex®-M33, a high-performance PowerQuad DSP accelerator, advanced security and rich memory density. In October of 2019, the LPC552x MCU family was introduced offering more streamlined feature combinations with secure and non-secure options. Most recently, NXP introduced the LPC551x/S1x MCU family which is an entry-level family featuring a new price point while providing the same level of security as the LPC55S6x family, a highly efficient Cortex-M33 core and advanced interfaces including CAN-FD. As NXP’s mainstream general-purpose microcontroller series, LPC5500 devices will continue to evolve, bringing more advanced technology to the world including a baseline Cortex-M33 based MCU, an MCU family designed for motor control applications offering advanced analog capabilities, in addition to next-generation integration and even a low-power MCU family.
