IP67 D-Sub connectors have been available for many years from a variety of reputable suppliers. However, these products rely on an oversize external frame and potting process to attain IP67 performance levels. While this technology works well, it requires the end user to design the PC board and access panel layouts around a non-standard connector profile and footprint.  This creates a problem in new designs due to the extra space required and an even greater problem in upgrades to existing devices due to the dimensional differences from previous connectors used.
