Step#1 is determining which material best fits the application. The material chosen will determine the shield rating of the backshell. NorComp offers backshells that are made up of three different types of materials: 1) Die cast – Nickel or Die cast - Black: Consists of light weight zinc with two plating options and has a shield effectiveness rating of 70db. 2) Metalized Plastic: Consists of ABS/PC plastic with nickel over copper plating with a lower shield effectiveness rating of 60db. 3) Plastic: Consists of high temperature plastic with no shield rating.
