An ON-ON-ON switch is a three throw switch because a circuit is made in all three positions. A double pole switch body must be used to get the three ON positions, but it is still considered a single pole switch since only one common terminal is used. An external connection must be made to obtain the three ON circuit, and this connection must be made by the customer.
