For years, Newhaven Display has been providing the worldwide marketplace with cost effective, high quality displays including TFTs. Newhaven takes pride on first-rate customer support, design services and development assistance. The decision to add a product line that could further support Newhaven Display's customer base came into fruition when Newhaven decided to team up with FTDI Bridgetek to create a product that would take the development of their TFT line a step further. The Newhaven and FTDI/Bridgetek partnership for the EVE2 TFT modules is certain to deliver a product that will push the TFT industry towards quality, reliability and increased performance capabilities. The EVE2 TFT modules are powered by FTDI/Bridgetek’s FT812 and FT813 Embedded Video Engines. These powerful chips bring the EVE2 TFT modules many different capabilities. The customer will be able to utilize high resolution graphics, touch interactivity, video playback (with QSPI from the controller), and audio synthetization and playback if a speaker is installed with the application. The EVE2 supports multiple image formats (JPG, PNG, AVI) as well as widgets to streamline touch interactive features of the display. There is 1 MB of built-in graphics memory (RAM) and no external frame buffer is required. For touch development, the EVE2 supports up to 255 “touch tags” for quickly and easily recognizing and tracking touch movement. It also facilitates rapid prototype development with built-in scalable fonts and support for both portrait and landscape orientations. All twenty of the EVE2 TFT modules are Human Machine Interface (HMI) compatible products that enable the visualization and control of applications. By using resources such as I/O and operating systems (even better if embedded), it allows the customer to communicate with any production system.
