The MVAC400 offers a compelling value proposition: The output voltages will address the broad range of AC/DC power supply markets: 12V for computing and networking, 24V for industrial, and 50V for telecom. All models have a high convection rating of 250W. The series is approved to 60601-1 3rd Edition Medical and 60950-1 ITE safety standards. These units offer high efficiencies that exceed 80PLUS Gold requirements. The MVAC series’ units are equipped with fully regulated and isolated standby and fan outputs as standard features. Note that the standby output option provides 5V at a full 2A. Many competitive models deliver minimal standby output power of less than 1W. There is a clear trend by OEMs to place greater demands on this output, and the 10W power level should meet the need in most applications. The fan output delivers 12W which should be more than adequate for a fan to cool these supplies. This series was designed to use an industry-standard footprint and 1U-compatible height of 1.4" to allow for drop-in replacement of most competitive models. A current sharing option is available for parallel and/or redundant operation. For the most demanding redundant applications, MPS has qualified a proven FET ORing circuit, detailed for customers in application note ACAN-42, available on the MPS (Murata Power Solutions) website. Active inrush limiting ensures well-protected cold startups as well as hot restarts. Lastly, the -20°C to 70°C operating temperature range accommodates most industrial and commercial application environments.
