High frequency capacitors are used for applications such as impedance matching, DC decoupling, and resonance circuits. This type of capacitor improves circuit performance in each application area. For impedance matching, a high frequency capacitor is connected in a parallel or series configuration in order to match the input or output impedance of the transistor. By having a tight tolerance high frequency (Hi-Q) capacitor, the return loss or reflection loss is reduced. In a DC decoupling application, a high frequency capacitor can be used to pass a signal without the DC portion. For resonant circuits, high frequency capacitors are used along with the required inductive and resistive values to produce the desired resonant frequency.
