The inner structure of a standard MLCC capacitor includes a ceramic dielectric material and an inner and outer electrode. An ideal capacitor would theoretically have capacitance only, but every capacitor contains parasitic resistive and inductive values. An actual capacitor dissipates energy due to dielectric losses from the ceramic and the losses seen in the resistive component of the electrodes.
