GLiDERS™ were designed for hand-held products that could be dropped, shaken and vibrated. For instance, medical devices, electronic greeting cards, electronic toll tags, single-use products, alarm systems, mother boards, personal navigation devices and RFID tags will all benefit by the GLiDERS design and low cost. These connectors also offer a low profile design for applications where space is limited in that they only require approximately 1mm of space in addition to the height of a battery. An example of this mechanical advantage is the 2.5mm thick CR2325 cell, which, when mounted in a GLiDERS holder, stands just 3.5mm above the surface of a PCB. Another example is the popular 3.2mm thick CR2032, which, when mounted in a GLiDERS holder, stands only 4.3mm above the surface of the PCB.
