With the graphics integration and multi-color support that was discussed, this slide will recapture the benefits again. In the middle, the three graphics processing units drive overall graphics performance improvement when rendering graphics objects, provide fast switching on fonts, languages, and decompression of data. On the right, the PIC24DA family also integrates a display controller and provides support for multiple display types and resolution, up to VGA. With this flexibility, developers can easily add the display type of their choice to the design. On the left, the family integrates a 96kB RAM option and a color look-up table. These two features work together to provide on-chip support for the 256 colors of a 16-bit color palette. For higher resolution and color requirement, there is an option to use external Flash and RAM via the 16-bit ePMP bus. Bringing together, the integration provides cost effective performance, reduces system costs and design complexity, by eliminating the need for an external display controller and RAM.
