The major limitation of the Schottky Diode is its relatively large reverse current, which is further increasing with raising temperature, thus the advantage of decreased Voltage Drop, mentioned in the previous slide, is eliminated. This also means, Schottky Diodes might not be used in all applications due to this drawback. The technology of Metal-Silicon junction only brings advantages in lower spectrum of voltages, which is typically 100 V, maximum up to 200 V. Above this level, other types of P-N Silicon junction, such as Fast Recovery Rectifiers, provide better performance to the circuit.
