The DS1341 is the I²C interface offering from Analog Devices that makes use of the AGC oscillator. It allows customers to upgrade from the industry-standard DS1337 to reduce power, extend backup time, and allow usage with XTALs up to 100 kΩ ESR. The External Sync feature allows the DS1341 to provide improved time keeping accuracy without the expense or complexity of temperature compensation for the crystal induced errors. The part is capable of using an external signal of 1Hz, 50Hz, 60Hz, or 32,768Hz for the Sync input. Whenever this external signal is available, the part will keep time based on the accuracy of the external signal. There are no errors induced when acquiring or losing the external signal.
