In spotlight applications, LUXEON TX can be used to rapidly populate a high-performance indoor portfolio with minimal design effort. In this example, a nine emitter spotlight with 90% optical efficiency and 85% driver efficiency with a Thermal Resistance from pad to ambient of 8 K/W is driven at 500 mA, resulting in a total of system power of 15 W. Using a LUXEON TX 2700 K 90 CRI part with a minimum flux of 180 lumens, the spotlight delivers 1,141 lumens at 75 lm/W. Using a LUXEON TX 2700 K 85 CRI part with a minimum flux of 190 lumens, the spotlight delivers 1,198 lumens at 79 lm/W. Using a LUXEON TX 2700 K 80 CRI part with a minimum flux of 220 lumens, the resulting spotlight delivers 1,384 lumens at 92 lm/W. By taking advantage of LUXEON TX’s industry leading flux and efficacy from 80-90 CRI, three different spotlights can be built with excellent performance, color rendering, and quality of light at a single color temperature at each CRI level.
