If the front panel or user interface is located close enough to the PCB, no wire lead will be needed for a panel indicator. However, if the PCB and panel are separated, a wire lead is needed to connect the LED on the user-interface with the power source located on the PCB. The most common wire lead is a standard 24 gauge UL wire. However, depending on application requirements wire gauges running from 16 to 26 gauge are available. Mounting hardware typically consists of a lock washer and nut. The nut screws onto the panel indicator from the rear to secure the panel indicator to the user interface. These types of panel indicators are typically metal and used for high vibration applications. Most Lumex panel indicators incorporate a mounting feature on the holder.
