High-speed fuses are used to protect power semiconductors in industrial systems. Three specific industrial applications are industrial motor drives, motor control centers/panels, and auxiliary equipment. Industrial motor drive applications include variable frequency drives, inverters, and power supplies. The high-speed fuses are typically used internal to the devices, mounted to the printed circuit board. Motor control centers and large industrial panels incorporate high-speed fuses to protect their power semiconductor system components. These panels exist in a wide range of heavy industrial applications. High-speed fuses are also used in a variety of small industrial control panels, including applications for crane panels, motor exciters, DC common bus, breaking resistors, and induction heaters.
