The LTM8061 and LTM8062 operate from an input voltage of 4.95V to 32V with an optional internal diode to prevent current flow from the battery when the charger input supply is off. The constant current, constant voltage charging method is suitable for rechargeable lithium batteries. Charging terminates when the battery current reduces to one-tenth the peak charge current of 2A or after the user programmable time-out period has expired. Additionally, charge will terminate when the module senses a bad battery or the battery is at an unsuitable charging temperature as determined by an NTC resistor. To maintain a full battery charge at all times, a charge cycle occurs automatically when the battery voltage falls 2.5% below the programmed float voltage. Packaged within a 9mm x 15mm x 4.3mm land grid array package, both chargers are compatible with surface mount reflow techniques and are RoHS compliant.
