The table on this slide compares the three prioritizers to assist with selecting one based on application requirements. The LTC4417 prioritizes between three supply rails using external P-channel MOSFETs, while the LTC4419 and LTC4420 prioritize two rails with internal 500mA current limited MOSFETs. While the LTC4417 operating range extends to 36V, the 2.5V on the lower end can be too close to work with 3V coin cell battery backups. The LTC4419 and LTC4420 reduce operating quiescent current to 3.6µA with backup standby current discharge of just 0.32µA, further extending battery run and standby time over the LTC4417. Only the LTC4417 monitors input supplies for overvoltage conditions, while only the LTC4419 and LTC4420 provide a freshness seal mode. To summarize, the LTC4419 and LTC4420 are suited for less than 10W applications, whereas the LTC4417 is suitable for higher power applications where current levels approach or exceed 1A.
