LTC2978-Slide5

The LTC2978 was designed with only the finest building blocks in mind so that performance would not be compromised when sequencing, controlling, supervising, trimming or margining. Fault diagnosis is as simple as accessing the registers of the EEPROM and examining the user settings and fault log. All eight channels offer full functionality. The LTC2978 incorporates a 15-bit ΔΣ ADC with 9:1 ADC MUX that accurately monitors eight 0-6V supplies, an additional high voltage (15V max) input channel, and the IC’s temperatures. Eight 10-bit DACs are included for margining and trimming the supplies, along with eight programmable UV/OV supervisors, a precise reference, an 8-channel sequencer and a PMBus-compliant interface. Secondary functions include self-temperature measurement, current sensing (using two channels) and memory capabilities. A 1-wire synchronization bus supports power supply sequencing across multiple LTC2978 devices. In addition, a programmable watchdog timer monitors microprocessor activity for a stalled condition and resets the micro if necessary. Furthermore, the LTC2978 is offered in a RoHS-compliant, 64-lead, 9mm x 9mm package, making it one of the most space-efficient digital power management ICs out in the market today.
