The Linear Technology LT3798 is a revolutionary new single-stage isolated flyback controller that combines the features of active power factor correction (PFC) and no optocoupler required for output voltage feedback. This feature-rich IC simplifies the design process for offline and DC power conversion applications. Linear added the active PFC to this converter to reduce the amount of energy wasted due to the misaligned AC voltage and current waveforms. The LT3798 is a follow-on part to the previously released LT3799 off-line LED driver that operates from the AC mains and also incorporates active PFC into single-stage flyback converter. Both devices can provide up to 100W of output power.
