The LTC3335 was developed for use in applications with long lifetime primary cell batteries; for example, primary non-rechargeable Lithium Thionyl Chloride cells powering a DC/DC converter in a wireless sensor, remote monitor, or asset tracker application or in any conceivable Dust Networks application. It is beneficial for batteries with a high output impedance that do not like to operate with high peak currents, or batteries that have a flat discharge curve which makes remaining capacity difficult to predict.
