Perhaps the most important feature of the LTC2947 is its integrated sense resistor. Monitoring solutions that use external sense resistors provide the user with the flexibility of sizing the sense resistor per the exact application requirements, where they generally want to choose the smallest sense resistor value to minimize power loss and provide the lowest tolerance and drift to maximize measurement accuracy. However, when dealing with high currents, it can be difficult to source a sense resistor that meets all of the critical design parameters, including high accuracy, small size, and low cost. The LTC2947 integrates a 300µΩ temperature-compensated sense resistor to address these issues, providing users with a simple 24mm² solution that provides up to 1.8% accurate energy readings at up to 30A over the entire operating temperature range.
