The LTC6362 is well-suited for other applications besides driving SAR ADCs. In the circuit shown on this slide, the LTC6362 drives the LTC2160, a 16-bit 25Msps low power pipeline ADC. The LTC2160 operates on a 1.8V supply, and the LTC6362 is able to match its input range by setting the common mode pin VOCM to the 0.9V midscale voltage applied to the VCM pin of the LTC2160. The resistors and capacitors at the output of the LTC6362 provide a single-pole filter with a corner frequency of 1.2MHz. In addition to filtering high frequency noise, this R-C circuit helps absorb the transients that occur when the ADC input sample caps open and close. Driving a 2kHz signal, the amplifier is essentially transparent to the ADC, allowing it to achieve its full performance. Signal-to-noise ratio is measured at 77.0dB, HD2 is -98.9dBc, and HD3 is -102.3dBc.
