Nickel BME and Copper BME have different “sweet spots” in terms of frequency range. In frequencies <100 MHz, nickel BME is the most cost effective and is offered in case sizes up to 2225. Smaller case sizes are typically used in handheld, mobile hardware, although crossover between small and large case sizes exists, as designers seek smaller case sizes to reduce costs. The CBR series is for >1 GHz frequency range and is offered in case sizes <= 0805. Within a base station, for example, a designer will need to choose Nickel BME or Copper BME, based on the application's frequency.
