RF, also commonly referred to as Microwave, is a technology that operates in the Radio Frequency range, from 30 KHz up to 30 GHz. Although this slide references RF capacitors for use up to 30 GHz, 1-2 GHz is more common in the industry. RF capacitors are an essential component for tuning applications; as an example, an RF circuit designer may elect to use various RF capacitor values to tune his antenna to the correct frequency. A common combination is the use of an Inductor plus an RF capacitor together to form what is called a resonator circuit. KEMET also offers an Inductor product line, so customers designing resonator circuits can choose KEMET for both their RF Inductor and RF Capacitor needs. Without RF technology (capacitors, inductors), the TV or cell phone would be unable to grab a signal – and with the advent of wireless in consumer lives, RF products will continue to be consumed in higher and higher volumes.
