SecureRF for the DE10-Nano Slide 3
If a device is connected, the designer should treat the environment as hostile – the designer does not know what else is going to be plugged in and if those devices have malicious intent. Any device that is connected can become a vector for attack, so the designer needs to harden these devices. The designer needs to ensure that mechanisms are put in place to prevent against unauthorized updates, which could allow malicious software to be installed on the target. Now security is not a static landscape. Mitigation techniques are constantly evolving as more and new vulnerabilities are found. It is likely that new security vulnerabilities will become apparent after a product has shipped, so the designer needs to ensure that the systems are ready to deal with tomorrow's new threats as well as today's.
