Touchless control supports humans in their daily living. The non-contact operation enables more comfort and is a modern way of interaction between humans and technology. People do not have to reach for a push-button in the distance, which is especially beneficial when the user does not want to pollute the device or does not have a free hand. However, touchless control is not only a comfort gainer, but also used as a hygienic or safety device. With the remote control, the user is able to keep a safe distance. In this way, frequently-touched surfaces can be avoided and contact with germs can be reduced, especially as the Covid-19 pandemic pushes the demand of innovative sensor solutions to avoid contact with surfaces.
