Power over Ethernet carries multiple different advantages. It is a standardized technology which means that as long as a user has PoE compliant PSE and PoE compliant PD devices, then it is guaranteed that the PD will be powered by PSE with Ethernet communication established between the devices. As mentioned on the previous slide, PoE is utilized by using a standard Ethernet cable, so there is no need for specialized and expensive cabling solutions. Power over Ethernet also does not have any negative impact on the Ethernet network or an individual device performance. With Power over Ethernet, an engineer can simplify his installation since only one cable is needed for both power and data, which will lead to cost savings due to eliminating a need for additional AC outlets or AC adapters. Power over Ethernet can also simplify the power management since a user can remotely power down or up devices on a network. Lastly, Power over Ethernet is a safe solution since PoE PSE devices will always supply required power needed by end devices.
