Developing new products is difficult from product concept to production. There is constant pressure for fast time-to-market, to build faster, smaller, with higher quality at less cost than the last generation. It is also imperative to beat an army of competitors trying to get to market first. Furthermore, most electronics need to meet or be in compliance with local/national laws regarding EMC (electromagnetic compatibility), i.e. EMC standards from IEC, CISPR, and ISO. If the finished product does not meet the EMC standard, the pressure is on engineering to troubleshoot/rework the product immediately in order to launch the product on time.
