Hybrid and electric vehicle systems are configured of several modules. In order to form the drive train and the energy storage system the battery bank is managed by the battery management system, or BMS. The charging system will have a DC/DC converter as one of the modules in order to generate the DC voltage required by the battery pack. This is where the PTC-ICL component can be placed to protect against overcharging, over-discharge, and high current events for the battery pack and overall system safety.
