Shielded Drum Core Inductor Coiltronics DR Series Slide 2
Why are shielded drum inductors so popular? Because of the compact footprint and at the same time they are usually the most cost-effective style of inductor due to ease of automated manufacturing and due to the large volumes consumed in practically all types of end equipment. The basic shielded drum core inductor is a single inductor with a single winding. Cooper Bussmann offers three main product families for this single winding inductor style. First the DR series is a shielded surface mount solution used for most commercial power applications. The DR series consists of five models in two different package sizes. The DR73 and DR74 are 7.6 x 7.6 mm with heights of 3.55 and 4.35 mm. The DR124, DR125, and DR127 are 12.5 x 12.5 mm and in heights of 4.55, 6.0, and 8.0 mm respectively. The DRA series is an automotive Grade 1 option also used for high temperature, Hi-Reliability, and rugged environments. The DRA series consists of five models in two different package sizes. The DRA73 and DRA74 are 7.6 x 7.6 mm with heights of 3.55 and 4.35 mm. The DRA124, DRA125, and DRA127 are 12.5 x 12.5 mm and in heights of 4.55, 6.0, and 8.0 mm. Last the DR10 series is a commercial grade, offered in a popular 10 x 10 mm form factor that is available in three different heights, the DR1030 (3 mm), DR1040 (4 mm), and the DR1050 (5 mm).
